Stainless Steel 321 is an austenitic alloy that contains about 17–19% chromium and 9–12% nickel, with titanium added as a stabilizer (usually around 0.5–1.0%) to bind carbon and prevent carbide precipitation. The carbon content is kept low (≤0.08%) to enhance stability at high temperatures. Typical mechanical properties for annealed 321 fastener stock include tensile strength ranging from approximately 500–700 MPa, yield strength around 205–275 MPa, and elongation often exceeding 40% under standard conditions.
