Stainless Steel 317L is an austenitic alloy that typically contains about 18–20% chromium, 11–15% nickel, and 3–4% molybdenum, along with a very low carbon content (≤0.03%) to reduce carbide precipitation during welding. This unique composition greatly enhances corrosion resistance in environments rich in chlorides and acids. The usual mechanical properties for 317L fittings include tensile strength ranging from 515–690 MPa, yield strength around 205–275 MPa, elongation exceeding 40% in the annealed state, and hardness of about 150–200 HB depending on processing. All materials come with certificates and optional third-party testing.
