Stainless Steel 455 is a precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel that contains around 11–12.5% chromium, 5–6% nickel, and 1.25–1.75% copper, along with some molybdenum and low carbon. This alloy can be aged to reach remarkably high strength levels. After heat treatment, its typical mechanical properties include a tensile strength of about 1250–1450 MPa, yield strength of around 1150–1300 MPa, and an elongation of roughly 7–12%.
