Stainless Steel 15-5 PH is a precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel that contains around 14–15.5% chromium, 3.5–5.5% nickel, and 2.5–4.5% copper, along with small amounts of niobium and very low carbon. It’s engineered to offer better transverse toughness and ductility compared to 17-4 PH. After aging, typical mechanical properties include a tensile strength of about 900–1300 MPa, yield strength around 800–1150 MPa, and an elongation of roughly 8–16%. This alloy strikes an excellent balance between strength and toughness while providing good corrosion resistance.
