Stainless Steel 310 is an austenitic alloy rich in chromium and nickel (approximately 24–26% Cr, 19–22% Ni), with carbon content up to about 0.25% and trace alloying elements. This unique composition provides outstanding oxidation and scaling resistance at high temperatures, along with impressive creep strength. Typical mechanical properties include tensile strength ranging from 515 to 750 MPa, yield strength around 205 to 310 MPa, and elongation of about 30 to 40%, which can vary based on processing. When specified and handled correctly, 310 retains its toughness at elevated temperatures and resists grain growth and embrittlement during thermal cycling.
