Stainless Steel 321 is an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy that typically contains around 17–19% chromium and 9–12% nickel, with titanium (usually 0.5–1.0%) added as a stabilizer to bind carbon. The carbon content is kept low (≤0.08%) to minimize sensitization at high temperatures. For bolt stock, typical mechanical properties include a tensile strength of about 500–700 MPa, yield strength around 205–275 MPa, and elongation often exceeding 40% in the annealed state. Hardness values generally range from approximately 150 to 200 HB, depending on heat treatment and cold work, with certificates available; third-party inspection can be requested with complete traceable documentation.
