Stainless Steel 321 is an austenitic chromium-nickel alloy containing roughly 17–19% chromium and 9–12% nickel, with titanium added (typically 0.5–1.0%) as a stabilizer to bind carbon. Carbon is controlled low (≤0.08%) to reduce sensitization at elevated temperatures. Typical mechanical properties for bolt stock include tensile strength of about 500–700 MPa, yield strength around 205–275 MPa, and elongation often exceeding 40% in annealed condition. Hardness values commonly sit between approximately 150 and 200 HB depending on heat treatment and cold work, with certificates available; third-party inspection on request with full traceable documentation.
