Stainless Steel 201 is characterized by its low nickel and high manganese content, featuring around 16–18% chromium, 3.5–5.5% nickel, and 5.5–7.5% manganese, with carbon levels typically below 0.15%. The manganese helps offset the lower nickel content, providing excellent strength and formability. Its mechanical properties are impressive, with a tensile strength ranging from about 520–750 MPa, yield strength around 275–345 MPa, and elongation of roughly 30–40%. While SS 201 is non-magnetic in its annealed state, it may exhibit slight magnetism after undergoing cold working.
