Stainless Steel 904L is made up of about 19–23% chromium, 23–28% nickel, 4–5% molybdenum, and 1–2% copper, with a very low carbon content (≤0.02%). This super-austenitic blend provides exceptional resistance to chlorides, sulfuric acid, seawater, and both reducing and oxidizing environments. Its mechanical properties are impressive, featuring a tensile strength of around 490–690 MPa, yield strength of approximately 220–280 MPa, elongation greater than 35%, and hardness ranging from 150 to 190 HB in the annealed state. 904L maintains its toughness at both low and high temperatures and outperforms 316L or 317L in resisting stress corrosion cracking. All pipes come with Material Test Certificates (MTCs) and optional Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) results.
